Mass Signature Campaign on 29th Demanding International Investigation of Chemmani Human Burial Site

A mass signature campaign demanding an international investigation into the Chemmani human burial site is scheduled to take place on the 29th in the Northern and Eastern provinces.
During a media briefing held at a private hotel in Jaffna, Suresh Premachandran, leader of the Eelam People’s Revolutionary Liberation Front, a partner party of the Democratic Tamil National Alliance, T. Siddharthan, leader of the Tamil Eelam Liberation Organization, Member of Parliament Selvam Adaikalanathan, leader of the Tamil Eelam Liberation Movement, Murugesu Chandrakumar, General Secretary of the Equality Party, Vedhan, leader of the Democratic Fighters Party, M.A. Sumandran, General Secretary of the Tamil Arasu Party, Selvarasa Kajendran, General Secretary of the Tamil National People's Front have participated.
They stated during the briefing that human burial sites have been identified in various locations across Sri Lanka, with the majority found in the Northern and Eastern regions.
The fate of many of these sites remains unknown. Excavations are currently underway at the Chemmani human burial sites, and over 140 skeletal remains have been recovered. About 90% of these were found without any clothing, and skeletal remains of children have also been recovered.
They emphasized the demand for international investigations and insisted that excavation work be conducted under the supervision of international experts.
The signature campaign is being carried out to advance these demands. It was stated that all parties traveling under the Tamil National Front banner will unite to carry out this protest.
