Man rapes toddler, court hands him life term within 21 days of framing charges

A special POCSO court in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, sentenced a 30-year-old man to life imprisonment for raping his 18-month-old niece. The incident occurred in March at her maternal grandparents' home. 

The man, related as the mother's cousin, lured the child away and assaulted her. The court fined him Rs 2 lakh to be paid to the survivor. 

The swift 21-day trial was credited to strong police investigation and timely witness cooperation.
