Karnataka BJP MLA caught red-handed taking Rs 5 lakh bribe, arrested

Chandru Lamani, BJP MLA from Karnataka’s Shirahatti Assembly constituency, has been arrested by the Karnataka Lokayukta after he was allegedly caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 5 lakh. 

The amount was part of an alleged total demand of Rs 11 lakh.

Officials said Lamani was first detained for questioning following a trap operation and was formally arrested thereafter. 

Two of his personal assistants were also taken into custody in connection with the case.
