Justice Minister’s Asset Declaration Lacks Signature – MP Dayasiri Jayasekara

The asset declaration submitted by the Justice Minister does not bear his signature. While pointing out shortcomings in the opposition, the government has overlooked defects within its own ranks, MP Dayasiri Jayasekara said. 

Speaking to the media in Colombo on September 26, he added:

“We have submitted our asset declarations properly. But the Justice Minister’s submission lacks his signature. Those who have done no wrong need not fear anything. We are not afraid of the government. However, arrests must not be limited only to opposition members. If any government members are guilty, they too must be arrested.

In the release of 323 containers from the port without inspection, the main figures involved are President Anurakumara Thisanayake and Minister Bimal Ratnayake. If the police truly act against corruption, the law must be applied to them as well. We have never looted the people’s tax money. Even if false cases are filed against us, we will face them boldly.

We are prepared to face any fabricated cases. We have only helped the people, unlike the JVP which has looted public property while increasing their own wealth. The JVP openly claims they do not spend their own money on politics. People must understand this.

The government is now in crisis because it cannot fulfill the false promises made during elections. For over a year now, it has been unable to achieve anything. In frustration, they have turned to political revenge against the opposition,” he said.
