Indian Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan reportedly emphasised the importance of unity among Tamil leaders, while holding the hands of C.V.K. Sivagnanam, Acting Leader of ITAK, and MP Sivagnanam Sritharan.
The meeting between the Indian Vice President and Tamil political party leaders representing the North and East was held on 19 April at the Taj Samudra Hotel in Colombo.
As the meeting concluded and leaders gathered for an official photograph, each leader approached the Vice President to convey their farewell remarks and gratitude. At that moment, when C.V.K. Sivagnanam and MP Sritharan approached, the Vice President held both their hands simultaneously and remarked that although there are many political parties representing Tamils, unity among Tamil leaders is essential, and that all leaders must stand united.
It was stated that both leaders acknowledged the message with smiles and expressed their gratitude before departing.
