Indian National Arrested with ‘Kush’ Narcotics Worth Rs. 34.19 Million

An Indian national was arrested on Jan 2 by officers of the Customs Narcotics Control Division at the Katunayake Airport premises while in possession of 3 kilograms and 419 grams of ‘Kush’, a narcotic substance.

Customs officials stated that the suspect, a 35-year-old male, had smuggled the drugs into the country and that their estimated street value is approximately Rs. 34.19 million.

The suspect had arrived in Sri Lanka from Bangkok on a SriLankan Airlines flight. The suspect and the seized narcotics have been handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau for further investigations.
