For April, fuel imports will continue from India and Singapore. Adequate fuel reserves are available, and the public is urged to avoid excess purchases.

The Director of Operations of the Sri Lanka Petroleum Corporation, Mayur Nethikumara, warned that sudden spikes in fuel supply could lead to shortages at filling stations.

He provided details at a press briefing on March 3:

• A shipment containing diesel and petrol for the next 18 days arrived at Colombo Port yesterday.

• Today, 19,000 metric tonnes of diesel and 21,000 metric tonnes of petrol are expected to arrive.

• On 17 March, a shipment from Singapore carrying 20,000 metric tonnes of diesel and petrol will arrive, and on 21 March, India will supply 20,000 metric tonnes of diesel and 15,000 metric tonnes of petrol.

• Shipments from India and Singapore are also scheduled for 27 and 29 March, respectively.

Reserves currently cover diesel for 35 days, super diesel for 59 days, octane 92 petrol for 43 days, and octane 95 petrol for 75 days. Citizens are urged to avoid purchasing fuel unnecessarily.
