Sri Lanka has confirmed that India has provided a positive response to its request for assistance in securing fuel supplies amid tensions in the Middle East.

During a visit to India on March 6, Minister Vijith Herath met with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to discuss arrangements for additional fuel supplies if the conflict persists.

The Indian government has confirmed support, and subsequent steps are underway to ensure uninterrupted and safe delivery of required fuel for Sri Lanka.

An Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson added that diesel requests have been received from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and the Maldives, and India, as a key supplier of refined petroleum, will make final allocations based on domestic needs and refining capacity.
