03-Nov-2025.
According to the latest report by the Ministry of Finance, total government revenue excluding grants rose to Rs. 2,321.7 billion in the first half of 2025.
During the same period in 2024, revenue stood at Rs. 1,860.6 billion — marking a 24.8% increase in 2025.
This rise was mainly driven by higher tax revenue, which increased by 25.9% to Rs. 2,151.1 billion compared to Rs. 1,709.3 billion in the first half of 2024.
Major contributing factors included higher revenue from excise duties on motor vehicles, value-added tax, customs import duties, income tax, special commodity levies, social security contributions, petroleum taxes, excise duties, and the CESS levy.
