Hunger strike enters 6th day demanding international justice
01-Oct-2025.
The sixth day of a rotational hunger strike was held on September 30 in Jaffna, organized by the Association of Relatives of the Forcibly Disappeared in the North and East, demanding international justice.
The protest began in Jaffna’s Chemmani area on September 25 and is scheduled to continue until October 1.
The hunger strike was launched to demand justice for human rights violations and enforced disappearances during Sri Lanka’s civil war, to reject domestic mechanisms, and to call for international investigations, including justice for the Chemmani massacre.
Participants declared: “We reject domestic mechanisms in Sri Lanka. For Tamil genocide, enforced disappearances, war crimes, and mass graves, we demand only an independent international investigation.”
