Greek bond case: Ajith Nivard Cabraal and four others released

The case filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) against former Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal and four others regarding the Greek bond issue was withdrawn on Dec 11.

Following this withdrawal, the Colombo High Court ordered that all five accused be released from the case.

The CIABOC had accused them of causing over 1.8 billion rupees of losses to the government by investing state funds in Greek bonds during Greece’s 2012 economic crisis.
