Government Issues Gazette Notification on Cabinet Reshuffle

A special gazette notification has been published regarding the appointments of new ministers and deputy ministers following the first cabinet reshuffle of the government. The notification was issued by Secretary to the President, Kalanidhi N.S. Kumanayake.

On the morning of October 10, three new ministers and ten deputy ministers were sworn in before the President at the Presidential Secretariat as part of the cabinet reshuffle.

Accordingly, Minister Pimal Rathnayake, who previously served as Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation, was removed from that post and appointed as Minister of Transport, Highways, and Urban Development on the same day.

The Ministry of Ports and Civil Aviation, previously held by Pimal Rathnayake, has been transferred to Anura Karunathilake, who previously served as Minister of Urban Development, Construction, and Housing.

Similarly, the Ministry of Housing, Construction, and Water Supply, previously held by Anura Karunathilake, has been assigned to Deputy Minister Kalanidhi H.M. Susil Ranasinghe.

Additionally, individuals who had not previously held ministerial positions—Kalanidhi Kaushalya Ariyaratne, Dhinindu Saman Kumar, Nishanth Jayaveera, and M.M.I. Arkam—were sworn in as deputy ministers, and their responsibilities were published in this special gazette notification.
