The Government has decided to revise the housing grant provided under the programme for the resettlement of families affected by landslides and landslide risks.

Under this programme, families identified for relocation from vulnerable areas are assisted through a beneficiary-driven housing construction mechanism.

At present, a maximum grant of Rs. 1.6 million is provided to each eligible family to construct a house.

Cabinet has approved a proposal submitted by the President in his capacity as Minister of Defence to increase this grant to Rs. 2.5 million per housing unit.
