So far this year, Sri Lanka has recorded 96 shootings, leaving 50 dead and 53 injured.

• Grandpass Shooting: Two men on a motorcycle shot at a man near a clock tower. He was later pronounced dead at Colombo National Hospital. A suspect who helped supply the firearm has been arrested.

• Maradana Shooting: A 44-year-old man linked to an underworld figure known as “Neville” was seriously injured. Police suspect a rival gang led by “Keselwatte Kavi.”

• Negombo Shooting: Gunfire was directed at a house, but no injuries were reported. Police suspect a personal dispute.

• Panadura Shooting: A shop owner was targeted, possibly due to a personal feud. Authorities believe an overseas underworld group may be behind the attack.
