Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s Chief Security Officer arrested

Neville Wanni Arachchi, retired Lieutenant Colonel and chief security officer of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, has been arrested by the Bribery Commission.

He was arrested on October 1 under sections 127(1)(u) and (e) of the 2023 Anti-Corruption Act for failing to cooperate with investigations.

He had been summoned earlier by the CID over allegations of illicit asset accumulation in December. He will be produced before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court.
