Former Minister Johnston Fernando’s son arrested

Johan Fernando, son of former Minister Johnston Fernando, was arrested on Dec 30 by the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division on charges of misusing vehicles owned by Lanka Sathosa.

Investigations revealed that a Lanka Sathosa truck and several other vehicles were unlawfully used and damaged. 

The arrest followed extensive investigations conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department.

Further inquiries uncovered serious financial irregularities and unethical practices related to salaries and other payments at the institution, in addition to the misuse of state assets.

Police stated that the suspect will be produced in court in accordance with legal procedures, while further investigations continue.
