Former Minister C.B. Ratnayake Remanded Until December 16

The Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court has ordered that former Minister C. B. Ratnayake, who was arrested by officers of the Bribery Commission in connection with a financial fraud amounting to 57.3 million rupees, be held in remand custody until Dec 16.

He was arrested yesterday by Bribery Commission officials under Section 23 (A) subsection (1) of the Bribery Act and the Money Laundering Act.

C. B. Ratnayake had appeared before the Bribery Commission in response to a summons regarding investigations into financial fraud alleged to have occurred during his tenure as Minister of Sports, Private Transport, and Livestock Development.
