Excavation in Mullaitivu in Search of LTTE Weapons

An excavation has been launched in Mullaitivu’s Irattavaikkal area in search of weapons allegedly buried by the LTTE.

Colombo CID officers received a tip-off that weapons were buried near the Valaiyanarmadam junction along the main road in Mullaitivu district.

Following court approval, excavation was carried out using heavy machinery, digging more than 15 feet deep, but nothing was found. The search has been abandoned.

A large military camp existed near this area after the war.
