The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment has announced that emergency funds have been allocated to each Sri Lankan embassy in Middle Eastern countries to address urgent needs of Sri Lankan nationals residing there.

Chairman of the Bureau, Kosala Wickramasinghe, stated that the funds will be used through Sri Lankan diplomatic missions to ensure safety and provide essential facilities for Sri Lankan citizens.

Although tensions currently prevail in the Middle East region, no restrictions have been imposed on Sri Lankans travelling to those countries for employment.

He added that the Bureau of Foreign Employment and Sri Lankan embassies are continuously monitoring the safety situation of Sri Lankan workers in the region.

All embassies have also been instructed to remain prepared to respond to emergency requirements.
