DMK evil, TVK pure: Vijay

Actor-politician Vijay on Dec 18 launched a sharp attack on the ruling DMK government at a public meeting in Erode, accusing it of failed governance, unfulfilled promises, and corruption. He described the DMK as an “evil force” while projecting his Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) as a “clean” and “pure force” ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.

This was Vijay’s first public meeting in Tamil Nadu after the Karur stampede that killed 41 people.

Referring to cultural symbolism, Vijay said turmeric was traditionally used “when starting something good” and that manjal carried “a different vibe,” adding that it was reflected in the Tamil flag. Calling Erode an auspicious land where turmeric grew, he linked the region’s identity to agriculture.
