The Sri Lankan government has initiated talks with Russia for emergency fuel procurement.
The discussions were held on March 13 between Russian Ambassador Levon S. Zakaryan and Foreign Minister Vijith Herath at the ministry.
The talks follow the lifting of restrictions on purchasing Russian fuel, addressing supply disruptions caused by conflicts in the Middle East.
The ambassador assured that arrangements would be made to ensure uninterrupted fuel supplies, and relevant agencies will coordinate the necessary measures.
Finance and planning officials, as well as the head of the Sri Lanka Petroleum Corporation, participated in the discussions.
