The Trincomalee Magistrate’s Court has ordered that no alterations be made to the temporary structure currently on the land said to belong to the Sri Sampath Jayanthi Vihara on Frederick Road, Trincomalee, and that no new construction or modifications be undertaken.

This order was issued by Magistrate M.N.M. Samsudeen on November 19 when the case was taken up.

After examining the 'B Report' submitted by Trincomalee SSP J.L. Ajith Kumar, the Harbour Police OIC, and Police Officer K.W.G.S.K. Samarasinghe, the Magistrate issued the directive.

The report had been filed by the police in connection with the dispute between the two parties following the complaint lodged by the Coast Conservation and Coastal Resources Management Department regarding the alleged illegal construction on the Vihara land along the Trincomalee coastline.

The matter, which had drawn significant nationwide attention, was taken up in court on November 18.
