Committee approves bill to abolish parliamentary pensions

The Sectoral Oversight Committee on Governance, Justice and Civil Protection has approved the Parliamentary Pensions (Abolition) Bill.

If passed, the law will terminate pensions for individuals who are currently entitled to or receiving parliamentary pensions from the date the law comes into effect.

The second reading debate is scheduled for 17 February. Committee members and MPs participated in the meeting both in person and online.
