China Donates School Uniform Fabric for 2027

The Chinese Government will provide school uniform fabric free of charge for all students and Buddhist monks studying in Government schools, Government-assisted schools and Pirivena institutions in Sri Lanka for the 2027 academic year.

The official exchange of certificates took place at the Ministry of Education. Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Qi Zhenhong handed over the certificate to Education Ministry Secretary Nalaka Kaluwewa.

Under the special assistance programme, the entire school uniform requirement of approximately 4.18 million students across the country will be met for 2027. China will donate 10.82 million metres of uniform fabric to Sri Lanka at no cost.

The event was attended by the Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka and several senior officials of the Ministry of Education.
