A charge sheet filed by Sri Lanka's Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) was served on former State Minister Shashindra Rajapaksa and two other accused before the Colombo High Court on July 7.

The case alleges that the accused fraudulently obtained Rs. 8.85 million in compensation for properties damaged during the May 9, 2022 violence at Sevanagala, Giripibunwewa, by exerting influence over public officials despite the compensation claim having been rejected.

High Court Judge Ravindra Premaratne imposed an overseas travel ban on the accused, granted them bail on two sureties of Rs. 1 million each, ordered fingerprint reports, and fixed August 5 for the pre-trial conference.
