Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga has begun moving her belongings out of her official residence on Independence Avenue, Colombo.
Following the parliamentary approval of a Bill revoking special privileges granted to former presidents, they are now required to vacate government-provided official residences.
Due to health reasons, Kumaratunga had been granted time until 30 November to vacate the premises, and she commenced the moving process on November 1.
She is expected to completely vacate the residence within the next few days.
