Centre approves massive Rs 79,000-crore defence buys for armed force

The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh, has accorded Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for various proposals of the three Services, amounting to a total of about Rs 79,000 crore.

Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) marks the beginning of the defence procurement process, wherein the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) grants official approval.

During the meeting held on Dec 29, AoN was approved for the procurement of a Loiter Munition System for Artillery Regiments, Low-Level Lightweight Radars, Long-Range Guided Rocket Ammunition for the Pinaka Multiple Launch Rocket System (MRLS), and the Integrated Drone Detection & Interdiction System Mk-II for the Indian Army.
