65,000 Land Deeds to Be Issued to Residents of State Lands – Deputy Minister

Deputy Minister of Lands and Irrigation Aravinda Senarath stated that the government plans to issue 65,000 land deeds by May to people residing on lands owned by the Land Reform Commission and other state lands.

Responding to a question in Parliament on 18 February, he acknowledged irregularities in past land allocations linked to political influence and institutional connections. Investigations have been conducted and appropriate action taken, he said.

The government is currently implementing a program to regularize land ownership and provide legal status to residents through permits and deeds, following proper recommendations.
