4 militants killed in Manipur Army operation
05-Nov-2025.
Four armed members of the United Kuki National Army (UKNA) were killed in an early-morning operation by security forces in Manipur's Khanpi village, located around 80 km west of Churachandpur, on November 4.
The UKNA is a non-Suspension of Operation (SoO) Kuki insurgent group.
According to the Assam Rifles, the encounter broke out when militants opened unprovoked fire on an Army team conducting a search operation.
Security forces retaliated, killing four cadres on the spot. The joint operation by the Indian Army and Assam Rifles continued through the day, with combing operations under way in adjoining forested areas.
Officials said the action followed a string of violent incidents allegedly involving UKNA members, including the killing of a village chief, threats to local residents, and attempts to destabilise the region.
