The internationally recognised “Walk for Peace” pilgrimage is scheduled to take place in Sri Lanka from April 21 to 28.

The pilgrimage will be led by Ven. Pannakara Thera, along with a group of 12 Buddhist monks. This week-long spiritual walk will commence in Anuradhapura and conclude in Colombo.

In order to promote peace and unity, the Buddhist monks will carry a sacred branch of the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi, along with other holy relics, during the journey.

The pilgrimage is being organised with the support of the Government’s ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ programme.

It will conclude in Colombo with an official state ceremony and a cultural exhibition, where Sri Lanka’s Buddhist heritage and traditional handicrafts will be showcased.
