Officials of the Criminal Investigation Department informed Colombo Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasekara on September 30, 2026, that the report of the technical committee appointed to investigate the alleged fraud involving US$2.5 million paid by the Treasury to an Australian company had not yet been received.

When the case was taken up in court yesterday, investigating officers informed the court that hard drives containing 16 terabytes of computer data identified during the investigation had been sent to the University of Colombo for further examination.

They further informed the court that arrangements had been made during the previous hearing to hand over copies of the email system of the Department of Government Debt Management to the five-member technical investigation committee appointed under the leadership of the University of Colombo.

Taking into consideration the facts presented before the court, the Magistrate ordered the Criminal Investigation Department to submit a report on the progress of the investigations into the incident on December 16.
