Oracle's Larry Ellison surpasses Elon Musk to become world's richest person

Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison has climbed to the top of the global wealth rankings for the first time in his career, overtaking Elon Musk as the world’s richest individual.

Ellison’s net worth jumped by an unprecedented $101 billion in a single day after Oracle Corp. delivered blowout quarterly results, sparking a record surge in its stock. 

As of 10:10 a.m. in New York, Ellison’s fortune stood at $393 billion, eclipsing Musk’s $385 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. The one-day leap is the largest increase ever recorded by the index.
