Actor Vijay, the chief of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), launched his statewide political tour on September 13, marking the beginning of his campaign ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. 

During his speech in Ariyalur, Vijay strongly criticised the BJP-led government’s proposal of "One Nation, One Election," calling it a “murder of democracy.” 

The actor also condemned the proposed delimitation process, claiming it was aimed at weakening opposition parties, particularly in southern states like Tamil Nadu.

Vijay argued that the idea of simultaneous elections would not only undermine the federal structure of the country but also lead to the dissolution of state governments. 

He expressed concern that such a move could pave the way for electoral manipulation, claiming that it would give the ruling party an unfair advantage.
