An Indian-origin McDonald’s employee in Massachusetts received a grand tribute for completing four decades with the fast-food chain, as colleagues and the franchise owner marked the milestone with a red-carpet event, a limo ride and a $40,000 cheque. The celebration honoured Balbir Singh, who began his career at the restaurant soon after moving to the United States.

The celebration was organised by franchise owner Lindsay Wallin, who operates nine McDonald’s outlets across the region. She described Singh as a key figure in the business and said his four decades of commitment reflected the values her family had built the company on.

Wallin said Singh joined the restaurant in the mid-1980s and initially worked in the kitchen, taking on every task available. "Balbir started his McDonald’s career 40 years ago, shortly after moving to the United States from India," she told the Daily Item. She recalled that he first worked under her father, Bob King, the original owner of the franchise.
