Access to addictions care in Cape Breton improving: officials

Nova Scotia's addictions treatment lead says access to care in Cape Breton is improving following a community meeting last winter.

In January, about 300 people gathered in Inverness to talk about what the organizer of the event called an epidemic of drug use in the area. One call to action at that time was for more overnight detox programming in Cape Breton.

"From the time of that meeting till now, we managed to recruit a key physician, put together a provincial support system of after-hours on call and we were able to restart it again," Dr. David Martell old CBC Radio's Information Morning Cape Breton on October 9.
