CIABOC Investigation Against Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne
14-Sep-2026.
The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has commenced an investigation into a complaint made against Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne.
As part of the investigation, CIABOC has taken possession of all documents relating to employees working at the Speaker's official residence.
The documents were reportedly handed over to CIABOC by parliamentary officials. They are said to include details of the Speaker's personal staff, their salary particulars and all information relating to the use of vehicles.
The complaint was lodged with CIABOC by former Deputy Secretary-General of Parliament Chaminda Kularatne.
Meanwhile, SJB Parliamentarian Dayasiri Jayasekara has pointed out that it would be inappropriate for the Speaker either to preside over the forthcoming debate on amendments to the anti-corruption law or to certify and sign the relevant Bill.
