Police spokesman Assistant Superintendent of Police F.U. Woodler said fugitive organised crime suspect Kanjipani Imran would definitely be arrested in due course.

He made the statement while responding to a journalist’s question at a special press conference held at Police Headquarters on August 13, on whether Kanjipani Imran would be arrested.

He said joint operations involving the three armed forces and the police were continuing to combat the growing drug threat and organised crime in Sri Lanka.

“Operations targeting drug seizures and major drug trafficking networks are being carried out continuously,” he said.

“Kanjipani Imran will definitely be arrested in due course. Raids and arrests aimed at eradicating the drug trade are being intensified continuously,” he said.

He added that suspects involved in such activities would continue to be arrested.

“Public cooperation is essential to completely eradicate the distribution and use of narcotics in the country. The details of informants will be kept confidential under security protocols,” he said.
