Chinese Defence Adviser Meets Deputy Defence Minister

China's newly appointed Defence Adviser to Sri Lanka, Senior Colonel Fu Xiao, met Deputy Defence Minister Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd) in Colombo.

The discussions focused on bilateral defence cooperation and matters of mutual interest.

The Deputy Defence Minister expressed appreciation for China's long-standing support in military training and professional development for Sri Lanka's armed forces.

He also outlined Sri Lanka's efforts to strengthen maritime security and reiterated the country's commitment to a non-aligned foreign policy.

The two sides identified maritime security, anti-smuggling operations, anti-human trafficking efforts, technological cooperation, training programmes and disaster management as key areas for future collaboration.
