Man dies after being arrested at SE Calgary hotel

The man was arrested and taken into custody and short time later went into medical distress.

A man is dead after being taken into custody by police following an alleged disturbance at a southeast Calgary hotel early Tuesday morning.

Just before 1 a.m., officers responded to the Carriage House Hotel and Conference Centre on Macleod Trail SE for reports that a man was causing a disturbance and refusing to leave the area.

The man was arrested and taken into custody and short time later went into medical distress.

Despite the work of emergency services personnel, the man was declared dead at the scene.

No officers or members of the public were hurt.
