Carlos Alcaraz decimates Novak Djokovic to defend crown

Alcaraz equals the Open Era record for most Grand Slams won at the age 21 or under, joining Boris Becker, Bjorn Borg and Mats Wilander.

Carlos Alcaraz has successfully defended his men’s singles crown at Wimbledon.

On Sunday, the Spaniard defeated the legendary Novak Djokovic 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) on Centre Court. In a rematch of last year’s final at SW19, it took the youngster 2 hours and 27 minutes to win the match in front of a packed house.

Alcaraz equals the Open Era record for most Grand Slams won at the age 21 or under, joining Boris Becker, Bjorn Borg and Mats Wilander. And he is just the sixth man to win the French Open and Wimbledon back to back.

Alcaraz also stayed unbeaten in Grand Slam finals, having won all 4 of them. With the triumph, he became the first Spanish player in history to win back-to-back Wimbledon titles.

Had Djokovic won, he would have equaled Roger Federer’s record of most titles (8) at the grass court major, but that did not happen.
