The Colombo Magistrate’s Court has ordered that the corruption case filed against former Minister Prasanna Ranatunga be taken up again on January 26.

The case was taken up for hearing on October 20, 2026, before Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama. The former minister, who is the accused and is currently out on bail, appeared before the court.

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has instituted proceedings against Prasanna Ranatunga over allegations that he caused substantial financial losses to the government while serving as Minister of Tourism. The alleged loss occurred in connection with the provision of insurance coverage for employees of four state institutions, including the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority.

During the hearing, officials representing the Commission informed the court that investigations into the incident were still in progress. After considering the submissions made by both parties, the Magistrate adjourned the case until January 26 and directed the Commission to submit a progress report on the investigations on that date.
