Yoshitha earned Rs. 5.15 million in salary during 10 years in Navy

Yoshitha Rajapaksa, son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, received a total salary of Rs. 5,150,626 during his 10 years of service in the Sri Lanka Navy, a naval officer testifying for the prosecution told the Colombo High Court.

Further examination of prosecution witnesses in the money laundering case filed against Yoshitha Rajapaksa under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act was recorded before Colombo High Court Judge Udesh Ranatunga on October 15, 2026.

Naval officer Dammika Priyadarshana Wickramaarachchi, who testified under the guidance of Senior State Counsel Oswald Perera, told court:

“My Lord, Yoshitha Kanishka Rajapaksa served in the Navy as a Lieutenant from December 14, 2006, to February 28, 2016. His service was suspended on February 28, 2016.

“He was entitled to a monthly salary of Rs. 16,500. After a deduction of Rs. 110, he was paid Rs. 16,390. The monthly payment included allowances.”
