Police officers injured after being hit by alleged street racer

A 19-year-old man faces a slew of charges after allegedly striking a pair of Ontario Provincial Police officers while street racing in southwest Ottawa at night on August 22.

The officers were hit during a crackdown on a group of drivers illegally racing in the Alti Place area just west of Barrhaven, according to a news release from the OPP.

When police tried to stop a pair of drivers, one of them struck the two officers before fleeing the scene, OPP said. Neither officer was seriously hurt.
