Ottawa mayor says province will support Canada Day storm recovery
07-Jul-2026.
Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe said Ontario Premier Doug Ford and his team have confirmed it will support Ottawa’s recovery effort after an extreme weather and flooding event on July 1.
Many Ottawa roads and properties flooded on July 1 when about 100 millimetres of rain fell in under four hours.
Ottawa’s mayor said that the premier has committed to support the city’s recovery.
More than 4,500 basements were flooded, according to the most recent city update.
The city has expanded waste pickup options this week.
