Northern Manitoba communities under cold weather warning
25-Dec-2025.
Parts of far northern Manitoba received an unwanted early Christmas gift — a blast of cold coming in from the west.
Five northern Manitoba communities were under “yellow” warnings from Environment Canada, warning of extreme cold through Dec 23 and Dec 24.
The warning covered Brochet, Lac Brochet, Leaf Rapids, Lynn Lake, Pukatawagan and all nearby areas. It was revised at 4 p.m. Tuesday, removing Leaf Rapids, Lynn Lake and Pukatawagan but adding areas in and around Tadoule Lake, located to the northeast.
Northern areas in all four western provinces are under the same warning Dec 23, as well as areas in the Northwest Territories and Yukon. Windchill values are expected to drop down past –45 degrees in some areas overnight Dec 24, including in the communities removed from the warning.
