US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced a crackdown on birth tourism, revoking over 600 visas linked to networks that help foreign nationals travel to the US to give birth and exploit immigration laws to obtain citizenship for their children. 

A Birth Tourism Prevention Task Force was established to investigate and dismantle these rings. The crackdown sparked debate online, contrasting it with the Trump-era Gold Card program that offers legal residency pathways through investment.
