North Korea, led by Kim Jong Un, tested an intermediate-range missile with a hypersonic trajectory hitting a target 1,000 km off its east coast. The test aimed to train troops and assess the weapon system's reliability amid rising Korean Peninsula tensions following a landmine blast that injured South Korean soldiers.

Kim Yo Jong criticized South Korea and Japan for failing to track the missile. Pyongyang emphasized its commitment to strengthening its nuclear deterrent despite Seoul's demands for an apology over the landmine incident. North Korea has conducted over 10 missile tests this year.
