Berlin Pride attack believed to be act of Islamic extremist terror, says Germany

A deadly Islamist terror attack struck near Berlin's Pride celebrations, killing one and injuring 29. The suspect, 21-year-old Abdul Ballout, rammed a vehicle into pedestrians then used a bladed weapon, injuring more. 

Ballout, a German-born Lebanese with a criminal and radical Islamist past, is still at large as police seek possible accomplices. Authorities raised threat levels fearing copycat attacks. The event pressured Germany's government amid immigration and security debates before state elections. The Pride festival was cancelled, with widespread condemnation and ongoing manhunt.
