K Annamalai resigned from BJP to launch 'We The Leader,' a political movement aiming to reform Tamil Nadu's stagnant politics by promoting clean, capable leaders with term limits and no permanent positions.

He criticized reliance on a single chief minister or existing legislators for change, advocating grassroots involvement from local bodies to the top.

His movement gained over 1 million members in 10 hours and intends to become a party by 2031. Annamalai maintains respect for BJP leadership but seeks a new political path beyond cult politics.

Following the resignation of former Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai, two senior leaders—vice president Karu Nagarajan and state secretary Sumathi Venkatesh—have also quit the party, signaling significant internal turmoil within the BJP's Tamil Nadu unit. Nagarajan plans to formally submit his resignation and is expected to welcome Annamalai in Chennai. Venkatesh expressed regret over her decision, indicating it was made after thoughtful consideration. The situation is ongoing and updates are forthcoming.
