Karnataka bans non-dairy paneer for a year
23-Aug-2026.
The Karnataka government has imposed a one-year statewide ban on non-dairy or analogue paneer, effective until August 17 next year, to protect public health and ensure only standardised milk-based paneer is sold.
The ban prohibits production and sale of paneer made with vegetable fats or non-dairy ingredients, aligning with the Food Safety and Standards Act. While tests found no adulteration, the ban targets unregulated analogue products. Karnataka joins other states enforcing similar restrictions on non-dairy paneer alternatives.
